What is Deadly Boss Mods?:

Deadly Boss Mods (commonly referred to as "DBM") is an addon suite that is a collection of many sub mods for boss encounters and special events and even quests all over world of warcraft spanning all 15+ years worth of content and has established itself as a brand name. It is widely recognized as the most known and most downloaded addon for World of Warcraft and has left a massive presence over the years.

History:

Deadly Boss Mods was created in 2007 under the name La Vendetta Boss Mods and built for Naxxramus in the Vanilla days by Paul Emmerich (Tandanu) and co author Martin Verges (Nitram), it was then rebranded to Deadly Boss Mods in The Burning Crusade and has retained that branding since.

During Wrath of the Lich King, Paul and Martin stepped away from the project to persue other things, and Adam Williams (MysticalOS) took over and has been maintainer on it since.

In 2012, DBM partnered up with Elitist Jerks (owned by Master Games International at the time) to help bring traffic to the site and connect two user communities together. In this time Deadly Boss Mods moved from just a hobby of passion to a scaled up full time development project. It was even trademarked and recognized as an official brand. During this time, Adam was able to commit to DBM as a full time developer, working from home as he also grew into a more permanent caregiver role for his mother.

In 2016 that partnership unfortunately came to an end as Master Games International shut down sites and business operation. Before doing so though, Adam bought back ownership of DBM and launched a Patreon to support it going forward.

From 2016 to 2018, Adam worked on DBM full time with little support, as he struggled to build brand even stronger. This came at cost to his health, as he stressed about how to make it all work while balancing his passion to work on DBM and also continuing to provide and be a caregiver for his mother. In late 2018, Adam wrote a post on the DBM official forums explaining that he may have to dial back some for health and stress reasons and just felt it important to let the many users of his mods know.

In an unexpected turn of events, a post only meant to be read by the handful of most loyal supporters that actually read the forums, went viral all over internet and the World of Warcraft community as a whole rose up to recognize Adam for his work on DBM and helped him not only get medical/dental support he needed but helped elevate DBM patreon support up to be more sustainable.

Since then, Adam has worked even harder to deliver best mods possible for encounters that continue to evolve in complexity (and work load) in addition to expanding support for additional game versions with day 1 support for both Classic Vanilla and Classic Burning Crusade.

In 2020, Discord officially recognized Deadly Boss Mods as a brand and verified discord server as a branded server and In 2021, Adam finally re-registered the DBM trademark since MGI failed to transfer original one before going out of business and they failed to answer all contact attempts to rectify this, forcing Adam to wait the auto expire out before applying for a brand new one. Krystals (QartemisT) also joined the team late 2020 working primarily on DBM-PvP mods, however diversified and began working on the core section of DBM providing new features such as a modernized options GUI, improvements to performance, and a profile feature.

In 2021, while DBM Patreon support has declined do to people dissatisfied with WoW/Blizzard, Deadly Boss Mods still remains strong and it continues to soar in popularity for all 3 World of Warcraft game versions and has even picked up some dedicated volunteers that help Adam moderate the Discord server, give user support, or even contributing to the code itself.

In late 2021, Adam made posts discussing DBMs future in light of declined support but reassured users that DBM wasn't going anywhere any time soon. Deadly Boss Mods remains a project of utmost passion and is here to stay for the long haul.
